James M. Gracy PA-C

James Gracy, PA-C received his bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University and graduated from the Physician Assistant program at Mercy College of Detroit in 1989. Upon graduation, he was on staff in the Emergency Department at Detroit Receiving Hospital. Later, James accepted a position at William Beaumont Hospital where he worked in the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery department.

In 1991, James joined the Burns Clinic and became the first Physician’s Assistant to be on staff at Northern Michigan Hospital where he worked specifically with the cardiac (heart) and thoracic (lung) surgeons until 2011. During his cardiothoracic and vascular surgery years, he assisted in over 5,000 open heart surgeries. James remains on staff at McLaren-Northern Michigan Hospital and works weekends in Trauma, General and Vascular surgery.

ln 2006, he started treating venous insufficiency (vein problems) in the office as new technology took the treatment from the operating room to the physician’s office. Since then, James has performed over 10,000 procedures. He has been a provider with Petoskey Surgeons since 2014.

Education, communication, patient comfort and satisfaction define James’s practice.

James resides in Harbor Springs with his wife Diane and has 2 children. He is an avid downhill skier and also enjoys hockey, bicycling, backpacking, and motorcycling.
